1990 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Cheval Blanc, St-Emilion (98RP, 98VN, 97JS, 97ST, 93WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Cheval Blanc is fast becoming my favorite modern-day vintage of this Saint Emilion estate and perhaps the 1990 is now exiting the slip-steam of the feted 1982. This is unequivocally a brilliant wine. The nose holds nothing back, a line of senses all doing the conga towards your olfactory senses: macerated dark cherries, exotic kirsch-like aromas, leather, mahogany bureau, touches of crème de cassis and herbs all vie for attention. The palate is full-bodied and cloaked in a silky, velvety texture that leaves you a little ga-ga. There is so much fruit ram-packed into the bravura of a finish. Moreover, there's just so much joie-de-vivre and decadence in this wine, but it never seems overpowering or ostentatious. This bottle came from perfect provenance, as it was served blind by winemaker Pierre Lurton at a private dinner hosted by a mutual friend in Bordeaux.

1985 Krug Brut Champagne
Bid on this bottle of 1985 Krug Brut Champagne (98ST, 96RP, 94WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Fabulous aristocratic nose of minerals, lemon, toast, and grilled nuts. Big, rich and ripe, but vibrant and incredibly penetrating. Extraordinarily nuanced in the mouth: minerals, lemon peel, caraway seed, and a smoky, hazelnutty yeast autolysis character. Uncanny intensity of sweet fruit given delineation by bracing acids. Explosive finish offers great cut. An extraordinary wine, and the best Clos du Mesnil to date. " (12/1998)

1996 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes
Bid on this bottle of 1996 Domaine Comte de Vogüé Musigny Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes ((94-97RP), 96WS, 94ST, 93BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This bright, dark ruby-colored wine is exceptional. Its enticing nose reveals extraordinarily refined aromas of a myriad of flowers soaked in cherries, blueberries and traces of sweet mocha. This oily-textured, full-bodied, perfectly harmonious, and compellingly delineated wine could not be any more elegant. It possesses awesome depth, concentration, and purity in its violet and cherry cream pie-flavored personality. Moreover, its formidably long finish displays a strong yet satiny backbone. I predict it will evolve magnificently. (PR)" (08/1998)

2011 Gerard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvee Unique"
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2011 Gerard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru "Cuvee Unique". “Cuvée Unique” is an exclusive bottling for North Berkeley Imports, as they explain, "With the help of winemaker Gérard Raphet, North Berkeley Imports selects certain complete barrels of wine to import under the exclusive label, 'Cuvée Unique.' Raphet tends four separate parcels in this larger grand cru vineyard, two-thirds of which hail from Charmes proper; the rest from Mazoyères-Chambertin. Fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank; aged in mostly older French oak barrels for 18 months (no more than 15% new wood). Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Raphet Burgundy is handmade from field to bottle, with a rhythm and method that hasn’t changed in four generations. Vines are on average very old, with many vines over 100 years. Harvest is done by hand, and grapes are fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank and then aged for some 18 months in a mix of new and older French oak barrels. Wines are bottled

2009 Domaine Michel Magnien Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Domaine Michel Magnien Clos de la Roche Grand Cru ((91-94BH), (92-94ST), 91RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good deep, bright red-ruby. Wild nose melds strawberry, mocha, game, iron, licorice, lavender and crushed tock. Then tighter and drier on the palate than the Clos-Saint-Denis, and much less open to inspection today. Very pure and soil-inflected but less fruity today. Finishes with impressive length. But this will need five or six years in the cellar. (ST)" (01/2011)

1982 Calon-Segur, St.-Estephe (3L)
Bid on this 3L-bottle lot of 1982 Calon-Segur, St.-Estephe (3L) (93ST, 90RP). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Good medium red, with a hint of amber at the rim. Very aromatic, inviting nose of redcurrant, leather and tobacco. Intensely flavored and gripping, with a slightly raisiny singed plum character but also solid framing acidity that gives the wine a juicy quality. Quite fat and full. Finishes with superb structure and grip. (A second, rather different bottle of equal quality showed cherry, currant, licorice and menthol aromas; a dense, backward palate impression; and lovely restrained sweetness and a note of spice cake on the youthfully firm finish.) 2012 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L)
Bid on this magnum lot of 2012 Shafer "Hillside Select" Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100RP, 98JS, 98WE, 97CG, 96WS, 95VN, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: " ... The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is a perfect wine. It elicits more than a few 'wows' when you smell the incredible notes of charcoal, graphite and subtle toast, buttressed and dominated by blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry fruit. The purity of these fruits, the multidimensional mouthfeel, the seamless integration of acid, alcohol, tannin and wood are all flawless. The 2012 signature adds an extravagant opulence and density that is just mind-boggling, and the wine is a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on already, although it has 30+ years of life ahead of it. 1990 Margaux, Margaux
Bid on this bottle of 1990 Margaux, Margaux (100RP, 98ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1990 Chateau Margaux has turned into a sensational wine that eclipses both the 1988 and 1989...and then some. It has a gorgeous, ethereal bouquet with sumptuous red berry fruit, leather, camphor and licorice—it is the kind of nose in which you just immerse yourself. Is there a hint of brettanomyces here? If there is, I don't really care. The palate is soft and sensual with incredible depth. Fleshy and corpulent for Chateau Margaux, and yet surfeit with breeding and finesse, there are layers or red fruit, kirsch, sage and fig, later tobacco and cloves. I feel that this 1990 Château Margaux is at its peak and yet the harmony, the sheer swagger of this wine just wins you over. Magnificent. Tasted May 2016. (NM)" (10/2016)

Wine Spectator: "Really dense and locked up now, this is packed with dark fig, currant and blackberry fruit shrouded by layers of tar, hot stone, bittersweet licorice and espresso. The long, dense finish has a great tug of iron buried within it. Best from 2011 through 2030. (JM) *Collectibles - #8 of the Top 100 Wines of 2008*" (04/2008)

Bid on this bottle of 1996 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche Grand Cru ((94-97RP), 96WS, 95BH, 95ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This blockbuster wine possesses a profound nose. It exhibits awesomely ripe red and black fruits, raw meat, and Asian spices, all of which are encased in sweet toasty oak. This full-bodied, wide, thick, focused, harmonious, and intense wine releases amazingly powerful layers of candied black cherries and blackberries. 2006 Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru
Bid on this bottle of 2006 Jean Grivot Richebourg Grand Cru (96RP, 95WS, 94BH, 94ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Grivot's 2006 Richebourg unsurprisingly displays a richness, meaty substantiality, and carnal depth that go beyond the other wines in his current collection. Peat, myriad tobaccos, black tea, roasted game, faded lilies, toasted praline, and dark fungal and forest floor elements kaleidoscopically scent the nose, and carry onto a sumptuously-, silkenly-textured, wet stone-lined, yet juicy, buoyant, and dynamic palate. While this wine is not about fruits and berries, it offers black cherries and purple plums to spare. The finish here perpetuates the seemingly paradoxical alliance of grip with levity; caress with vibrancy; and concentration with elegance that characterize many of the finest wines of the vintage. Grivot tasted it with me for the first time after bottling and remarked that he was amazed at what it had gained – not to mention how little if anything it had lost

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Angélus, St-Emilion (100RP, 97JS, 97VN, 96ST, 96W&S, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Truly great stuff, this wine performed at a three-digit level both in the horizontal tasting of 2005s in Baltimore, as well as in Montreal at this mini-vertical. This sensational, opaque, bluish/purple wine offers up notes of vanillin, spring flowers, blueberry and blackberry liqueur, plus a touch of licorice. The wine hits the palate with a thunderous cascade of ripe, rich, concentrated fruit. It is full-bodied, multidimensional and layered. The tannins are beautifully integrated but still present, and the wood, acidity, alcohol, etc., are all beautifully assimilated in this magnificent, majestic vintage of Angelus. It can be drunk now, but it is still an adolescent and that suggests it has at least another 25-35 years of longevity. (RP)" (08/2015)

2005 Pavie, St-Emilion
Bid on this bottle of 2005 Pavie, St-Emilion (100RP, 99VN, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Gérard Perse believes this is the greatest Pavie he’s made to date, although certainly I would argue that list includes the 2000, as well as the 2009 and 2010, among his superstars. This wine, which I had both in the 2005 horizontal report in the Wine Advocate, and at a mini-vertical with Perse at the restaurant Maison Boulud in Montreal, looks to be a 75- to 100-year wine. Dense, opaque purple to the rim, with a gorgeously promising nose of blackberries, cassis, graphite and cedar wood just beginning to emerge, it tastes more like a three-year-old than wine that is already a decade old. This beauty is intense and full-bodied, with magnificent concentration, a majestic mouthfeel and a total seamless integration of tannin, wood, alcohol, etc. Beautifully rich, full and multidimensional, this is a tour de force in winemaking and certainly one of the top dozen or so 2005 Bordeaux. So nicely layered texture and long in the finish with red fruit and crushed chalk. The texture is superb." (11/2013)

Of the 2008 Schrader "Beckstoffer To Kalon - CCS" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: " ... Blueberry pie intermixed with creme de cassis, licorice, subtle oak and forest floor notes are followed by an extraordinary wine of staggering richness, luxurious fruit and seamlessness. This is the kind of wine that simply has it all, and I think it could easily be inserted in a tasting against the greatest first-growth Bordeaux or any other profound Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa or elsewhere and hold its own, if not dominate the tasting. 2013 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2013 Dominus Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (100DC, 100JS, 100RP, 100VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Dominus is, to my way of thinking, one of the most profound wines Christian Moueix has yet made in his rather brilliant winemaking history, both in France and in Napa Valley. This wine, with very low yields of only 3,500 cases and a final blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc, offers up notes of cedar wood, forest floor, loamy soil and oodles of blackberry and blackcurrant fruit. Very opaque purple in color, super-pure and intense, this wine has low acidity, but ripe, noticeable tannins. This is a 30- to 40-year wine and a profound effort from this famous vineyard in Yountville. Drink it over the next 40+ years. (RP)" (10/2015)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes (100RP, 96ST, 96WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A bigger, richer, more concentrated wine than the ethereally textured Cuvee Chaupin, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is unquestionably one of the wines of the vintage as well as one of the finest Chateauneuf du Papes ever made. Offering notes of cassis, roasted meats, beef blood and licorice, this heavenly 2007 is full-bodied, hugely concentrated and rich yet shows incredible purity, focus and precision, with no sensation of heaviness or weight. It’s still deep purple colored, with no signs of evolution, and it has another two decades of life. Having said that, it’s a gorgeous drink today. (JD)" (02/2017)

2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2009 Le Dôme, St-Emilion (99RP, 95JS, 95ST, 95WE, 91WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One of the most distinctive wines made in Bordeaux, Le Dome has one of the highest percentages of Cabernet Franc of any claret I can think of. Composed of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot, it exhibits a certain delicacy and elegance (due to the Cabernet Franc component) in addition to resounding power, concentration, depth and multidimensional personality. Black/purple to the rim, it offers strikingly intense notes of spring flowers, raspberries, mulberries and wood smoke, medium to full body, sweet tannin and a cunning intensity and texture that suggest finesse and delicacy. However, the wine’s richness, length and lingering depth build incrementally in this exceptional St.-Emilion. It will be drinkable in 4-5 years and should age for two decades or more. This is Jonathan Malthus’ finest wine to date. (RP)" (02/2012)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2007 Scarecrow Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (OWC - 100JS, 100RP, 96VN, 93WS) in original wood. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Scarecrow's inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a prodigious effort. It reveals a liqueur of crushed rocks intermixed with a smorgasbord of spring flower, blueberry, creme de cassis, and assorted blue, black, and red fruit characteristics. It also possesses extraordinary concentration, but what sets it apart is the fragrant aromatics combined with uncommon purity and elegance for such a full-bodied, massively concentrated wine. Its perfect balance suggests it can be drunk at a relatively young age, but it should easily evolve over 30-35 years. Congratulations to all involved! (RP)" (12/2009)

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Le Dôme, St Emilion (100RP, 95WE, 93JS, 93ST, 93WS). Extremely full-bodied, but again, not showing any weighty fatigue or any type of aggressiveness, this wine has extraordinary purity and richness as well as a blockbuster finish of close to a minute, yet is so flawless, seamless and compelling, it’s hard to believe the wine is this concentrated and rich. It will be interesting to see how it evolves, but it certainly can be drunk in 3-4 years and, I’m sure, cellared for as long as 25-35 years from now ... (RP)" (02/2013)

2010 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2010 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94VN, 93RP, 92ST). Vinous: "Exotic, aromatic and expressive, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is incredibly beautiful today. Dark cherry, plum, spices, violets and lavender are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. The 2010 is surprisingly accessible for a young wine from Dunn, but it has also only recently been bottled, so I will not be surprised if it shuts down a bit over the next few months. The finish is long, silky and exquisite. In 2010, the Napa Valley is mostly fruit from Dunn's Lake Vineyard, a cold, late-ripening site planted between 2000 and 2002 on a plateau at 1,800 feet, a stone's throw from the winery, so the Napa is essentially all Howell Mountain fruit. Dunn fans won't want to miss the 2010. It is stellar. (AG) 94+" (11/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Syrah The Thrill Of impresses for its poise and underlying energy. Dark fruit, spices, licorice and violets sit on a core of firm tannin as this powerful wine opens up in the glass. Today, The Thrill Of comes across as very, very young. The intensity of the fruit and the oak are dominant at present. In another few years the wine should be spectacular. 2015 Aubert "Eastside Vineyard" Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Bid on this bottle of 2015 Aubert "Eastside Vineyard" Russian River Valley Chardonnay (98JS, 98RP, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chardonnay Eastside Vineyard exudes butterscotch, allspice, baked pears and peach preserves with tantalizing honeycomb, salted caramel and popcorn hints. This rich, full-bodied powerhouse fills the palate with decadent, spicy stone fruit, marked by a refreshing line of acid and finishing with lingering wet pebble and savory hints. (LPB)" (10/2017)

2010 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (94ST, 93BH, (91-93VN), 92WS). Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medium red. Tight but pure nose offers redcurrant, red cherry, minerals, flowers, licorice and menthol, plus a high note of orange zest. On the palate, terrific inner-mouth energy gives sharp definition to the intense flavors of red berries, spices and menthol. Finishes with serious, firm tannins and an impression of weightlessness. For a taut wine that's built for a graceful evolution in bottle, this is remarkably pliant today. (ST)" (04/2013)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The more mortal 2011 Pinot Noir Ma Danseuse exhibits sweet notes of raspberry jam, currants, camphor and powdered rock. This attractive, elegant, medium to full-bodied 2011 is more evolved and fruit-forward than the 2009 or the perfect 2010. The 2011 will drink well for 8-12 years. (RP)" (12/2013)

Intensely perfumed nose offers cherry, fresh herbs, dried lavender and cured tobacco. Chewy red and dark berry flavors stain the palate, with dusty tannins adding grip. The tobacco note repeats strongly on the finish, which is pure and long. This is drinking well right now. (JR)" (11/2008)

2011 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2011 Quilceda Creek "Galitzine Vineyard" Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon (95RP, 93ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard comes all from the Golitzin’s Red Mountain vineyard and is almost all Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the richest and most concentrated wines in the vintage, it offer fabulous creme de cassis, black raspberry, graphite, toast and licorice aromas and flavors to go with a full-bodied, seamless and beautifully balanced profile on the palate. As expected, it doesn’t have the sheer wealth of material that’s present in the prior vintages, yet everything is perfectly proportioned, it has excellent mid-palate depth and notable, sweet tannin. It benefits from a decant and will have upwards of two decades of longevity. (JD)" (06/2014)

2014 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (98RP, 97WS, 96VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The sensationally pure and seamless 2014 James Berry Vineyard Proprietary Red (42% Grenache, 24% Mourvèdre, 21% Syrah, 8% Counoise and 5% Roussanne) was brought up in a mix of barrels and foudre, followed by six months in concrete tanks. The wine offers incredibly rich and layered notes of black raspberries, creme de cassis, crushed flowers, melted licorice and peppery herbs in its full-bodied, impeccably balanced profile. Showing the more upfront, hedonistic style of the vintage, this full-bodied beauty still has ample underlying tannin, beautiful mid-palate depth and a killer finish that keeps you coming back for more. A real essence of Burgundy on the nose, combining musky red berries, dried flowers and underbrush. Silky and perfumed, with a lovely light touch and subtle intensity to the berry, cherry and violet flavors. Of the 2005 Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts",Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar writes: "Deep red. Blueberry, blackberry, flowers, spices and minerals on the slightly exotic nose, lifted by spicy oak. Round, lush and rich, with the weight and palate presence of a grand cru. Offers an uncanny combination of breadth and inner-mouth perfume, with the sweet oak serving to frame the fruit. Today this is the fleshiest and oakiest of the three premier crus from Vosne-Romanee, but the finish is wonderfully tangy and sappy, not to mention extremely long. 2014 Sean Thackrey "Orion" Napa Valley Red Blend
Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2014 Sean Thackrey "Orion" Napa Valley Red Blend. Sourced form the Rossi Vineyard in St. Helena, Orion is a field blend of Rhone varietals planted in 1905. From the distributor: "Since 1980, Sean has been producing wines that are extraordinary not only for great quality and complexity, but also because Sean utilizes unique wine-making techniques, often drawing from historic, sometimes ancient, wine-making practices from all over the world. The results are consistent, as evidenced by Sean’s continued support and enthusiasm from his peers and devoted customers. Sean sources grapes from many locations throughout California, and makes all his wines by hand 'touching every grape' at his small Bolinas winery. Self-taught, and fully reliant on his intuition and senses, Sean is the antithesis of corporate wine-making. The proof is in the bottle."

2006 Domaine Comtesse Bernard de Cherisey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Chalumeaux"
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2006 Domaine Comtesse Bernard de Cherisey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Chalumeaux" ((92-93RP), 91BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Cherisey 2006 Puligny-Montrachet Chalumeaux – from 60 year old vines (on the opposite side of the narrow Puligny-Blagny road from La Truffiere) is scented with fresh lime, apple blossom, honeysuckle, white peach, and white pepper. So creamy and rich that the palate impression is practically voluptuous, and with a palpable sense of extract and entirely buffered alcohol, at the same time this evinces delicacy and refreshment. The finish here exhibits a fresh fruit edge, shimmering minerality, and remarkable sheer grip, given the creaminess and elegance of the palate. This should be worth cellaring for at least 6-8 years. Silky on entry, then wonderfully perfumed and pure in the mouth, with pungent spicy minerality giving the mid-palate outstanding lift. 2000 Fonseca Vintage Port
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Fonseca Vintage Port (96RP, 95ST, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Fonseca continues to exude finesse and focus on the nose, with pure blackberry, juniper berries, licorice and a touch of sloes, perhaps as Adrian Bridge remarked, just beginning to close after ten years in bottle. The palate is underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. The harmony and symmetry is alluring, the finish precise and demonstrating the persistency to suggest a long future ahead. Drink 2020-2060. (NM)" (02/2013)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2011 Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune 1er Cru "Champs-Pimont" Rouge ((90-92BH), 90ST, 90WS). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a discreet touch of floral influence to the otherwise very fresh and pure extract of red pinot fruit, plum, anise and wet stone scents. I very much like the energy exuded by the racy and equally pure medium-bodied flavors that are built on a base of minerality before culminating in a spicy, intense, balanced and linear finish. The bouquet is deep and perfumed, as it offers up a fine blend of black cherries, cocoa, a touch of grilled meat, lovely soil tones and a judicious framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is fullish, long and suave, with excellent depth and complexity, ripe tannins, tangy acids and fine length and grip. Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2007 Dönnhoff Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spätlese Nahe (94RP, 92ST, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "As usual with Donnhoff's renditions of this site, his 2007 Norheimer Kirschheck Riesling Spatlese displays a profusion of flowers (buddleia, rose lily, and cherry blossom) on the nose and cherry fruit and citrus on the palate that combine for an irresistible charm offensive. This silken, pure Riesling is suffused not only with wafting floral perfume, but with saline, savory, scallop-like mineral notes that add to its utterly lip-smacking, saliva-inducing brand of refreshment. Here's a great example of residually sweet Riesling possessing not one gram more than needed for maximum support of its aromas and fruit flavors, so that sweetness per se is the last thing you have on your mind as you reach for the next sip.
